Build Grow Live in Torquay!

  • Spring Creek Reserve (map)

‘Build Grow Live in Torquay builds on the past success of Sustainable House Day where the general public is able to view and access practical information on how to live ‘greener’ by visiting private homes where owners shared tips home and information on living more sustainably.

This year we will broaden the event by featuring the sustainable design of a public building and a local sustainable business in addition to architect designed ‘eco’ residences.

The public are invited to purchase tickets to tour the open properties. The tickets will then allow them to attend various presentations and workshops and visit stalls at the Community Garden during the afternoon and finishing up with an opportunity to relax and chat with presenters /specialists over a slice of wood-fired pizza at the Danawa community garden.

Our event aims to showcase not only what individuals can do to live more sustainably by offering an opportunity to view local ‘eco’’architect’s residences and learning from various workshops but also highlights the Surf Coast Shire as a place where vision and leading by example is encouraged .

By featuring successful local sustainable businesses we hope to encourage people to think about how they can address environmental sustainability, as well as financial sustainability in their business or place of work.

The event, a fundraiser for Surf Coast Energy Group (SCEG) and Danawa Community Garden (DCG), will run from 1pm until 5pm at the community garden, Spring Creek Reserve, with tours of the ‘sustainable properties’ between 10 am and 2pm.

Tour of the civic precinct will run at 10am.
